At mkUltra.run, we believe ultra running is as much about mindset as it is about miles. Our coaches bring both experience and passion to help athletes build resilience, discipline, and adaptability on and off the trail.
Dave is an Athletics Australia‑accredited Recreational Running Coach based in Canberra, with a passion for helping runners of all levels — from first‑time Parkrunners to seasoned ultra marathon athletes. Equally at home on a 35 km long run or a relaxed jog with his partner (who proudly ran her first nonstop Parkrun in 2024), Dave believes running is for everyone. If you’re keen to talk about, get involved in, or improve at running, he’s always ready to share his time and knowledge.
Finishing consistently in the top 15–25% of race fields, Dave has tackled some of the toughest events in Australia and New Zealand, including The Guzzler 100 (Brisbane), Blackall 100 (Mapleton), Buffalo Stampede 100 km, UT Kosci Miler, and the TUM Miler (New Zealand). He’s twice completed the legendary Coast to Kosci 240 km in 2023 and 2024, and is currently training hard around Canberra for the GPT Miler and a return to Bright for Buffalo Sampede 2026.
Sare is an Athletics Australia accredited Recreational Running Coach located in Canberra and is working full time, a mother of three and chasing podiums at marathons, trail and ultra races around Australia. Sare knows first-hand the challenges of managing a busy schedule and fitting training in to prepare physically and mentally for the things she sets her mind to. She can apply what she knows with runners of all abilities, whether they’re just starting out or looking to fine tune a training program to make advancements on their performance.
Over the last 12 months Sare’s races have included competing in her local trail series, Gone Nuts 101- Tasmania, The Guzzler 100- Brisbane, UTA 100- Katoomba and the TUM Miler- New Zealand. So, you can see she has lots of experience at many of the larger races and will no doubt be ticking off many more in the year ahead, perhaps culminating at UT Kosci where she will compete in her next miler.

Coaching Philosophy
The coaching philosophy is simple: ultra running demands both physical grit and mental fluency.
We believe in responsibility, sustainability, honest communication, curiosity, and fit. These principles shape how we coach and how we’ll work together. Below are the core pillars—if they resonate, we’ll likely be a good match.
Own Your Choices
Training is about responsibility—decisions you make in training prepare you for decisions on race day.
Train for Life, Not Just the Race
Running should fit your life, not override it. Sustainable training beats short‑term optimisation.
Speak Up, Listen Well
Honest, two‑way communication builds trust and progress.
Challenge the Body, Challenge the Mind
Growth comes from curiosity, not comfort—physically and mentally.
Fit Matters
Coaching is about connection. If we’re not the right fit, that’s okay
